Description:
Throughout the past 40 years women exerted a tremendous amount
of effort insisting that they were not different from men
with the exception of the obvious physical differences. This
was an understandable and appropriate response to the conventional
wisdom of that time period, however, since that time there
has been literally hundreds of studies identifying elements
characterizing the differences of women and men. Spectrem,
a research based consulting firm, developed a report on affluent
women and financial decision making based on quantitative
data collected from over 3000 affluent households in the fall
of 2003. These studies confirm numerous gender-related differences
in perceptions, attitudes, priorities and communication styles.
And each of these differences has implications across the
sales and marketing spectrum. This Spectrem Perspective report
details the significant differences between male and female
investors, and provides recommendations to advisors for cultivating
relationships with this important market segment.
While
women are now recognized as a major force in the affluent market,
their financial attitudes and selection criteria differ significantly
from men’s. Cathy’s presentation will detail findings
that include:
- Women
take a much more cautious approach than men, both in their
attitudes about investments as well as how they make decisions.
- Women
tend to be more reliant on professional advisors than men.
- While
women demand a higher quality of service and talent from
their advisors than men, once they find the right advisor
they are very loyal clients.
- Women
demand a more personalized approach from their advisors.
This
program is appropriate for senior financial executives with
responsibility for Women's Segment, Affluent Marketing, Retail
Banking, Channel Development, Market Research and Strategy
Teams.
