The Rise of the Independent Advisor

Register

When:
March 21st, 2002 at 2:30 Eastern Standard Time
for about 1 hour

Speakers:

David M. Thompson - Senior Consultant - NFO Financial Services

Session Description:

Affluent household satisfaction with financial advisors has declined significantly from the peak of the bull market.  Although this large drop is undoubtedly related to the difficult and declining market environment, it highlights the changing needs of affluent households.  The market turmoil may have unmasked a need for planning to achieve clearly defined objectives rather than a short-term focus on rapid asset appreciation.  In this environment, we’re seeing cracks in the full service broker model and the continued emergence of independent advisors who excel at building client loyalty.

Trend data is drawn from NFO’s Affluent Market Research Program, the “gold standard” syndicated study of the U.S. wealth market, conducted yearly since 1981.  Based upon nationally weighted data from over 2,000 households, this trended overview will describe:

  • Growth of the affluent market
  • Attitudes about the economy and investment behavior, and key attitudinal changes
  • Trends in use of professional financial advisors and primary advisors
  • Types of advisors used
  • Changes in advisor services used and satisfaction with advisors
  • Increased loyalty and satisfaction of affluent using independent advisors
  • Importance of open architecture

This program is appropriate for senior financial executives with responsibility for Affluent Markets, Online Banking, Market Research and Strategy Teams.

Attendance Fee:

$275 plus $50 per telephone line used
