Session Description:
The financial services community holds the keys to our country's
financial recovery from the terrible tragedy of September 11th.
Our panelist' will address key retail banking issues that we all
have to face. "How do we advertise financial products without being
insensitive?", "What can we do to help motivate customers to resume
investing in their small businesses?", "What can we do at the local
level to rebuild consumer confidence?" The panel will also take
questions from the audience and audience commentary is welcome.

There will be no charge for this conference.
Onsite
Conference is waiving our usual conference fee of $325 per institution
as a public service to the financial services community. The conference
panelist' have also volunteered to provide their time and strategic
insight at no charge.
About John
Barlow
John Barlow is the President of Barlow
Research Associates, Inc., a market research and consulting
firm which deals exclusively with the financial services industry.
The companies clients include more than half of the twenty largest
banks in the Unites States including JP Morgan Chase, FleetBoston,
Key Bank, U.S. Bank, PNC, Wachovia, First Union and others.
Since
1980 Barlow Research Associates has conducted extensive research
in the banking and financial services industry, using techniques
John has personally developed, such as Optimal Product Configuration,
the Customer Relationship AuditTM and the Customer Rebate Questionnaire.
Prior
to starting Barlow Research Associates in 1980, John spent four
years working for Norwest Bank Minneapolis, where he was responsible
for the Commercial, Trust and International Marketing activities.
Prior to this, John spent four years as a commercial lender in Grain
& Milling and the Financial Institution Divisions of the bankšs
Corporate Banking Department, managing accounts such as IDS, Bankeršs
Life, Dain Bosworth and the Minnesota Twins.
John
holds a BBA from the University of Iowa and is a graduate of the
American Bankers Association School of Commercial Lending. He is
a frequent speaker at bank meetings and the past President of the
Minnesota Chapter of the Bank Marketing Association. John recently
wrote a chapter on the topic of Service Quality in the Cash Management
Handbook published by Warren, Gorham & Lamont.
John
is Chairman of Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Iowa Falls
State Bank, a family owned community bank in Northern Iowa. John
lives with his wife and two children on Lake Minnetonka near Minneapolis.
He is an avid E-scow sailor.
About Mary
Beth Sullivan
Mary Beth Sullivan is a Senior Managing Director with Furash
& Company, a management consulting firm specializing in
the financial services industry. Ms. Sullivan specializes in the
design and implementation of business strategies and marketing programs.
She has extensive experience in strategic planning, retail distribution
system analysis and design, product development, small business
planning, market segmentation, the design of sales programs, customer
profitability systems, and customer acquisition and retention programs,
and financial planning.
Prior
to joining Furash & Company, Ms. Sullivan was Vice President
and Marketing Manager, Customer Markets Management Group, with Chemical
Banking Corporation n New York where she was responsible for evaluating
consumer and small business customer profitability, target market
segment identification and needs assessment, developing origination,
retention, and market penetration programs, and assisting in the
design of new products. Additionally, as Vice President and Project
Office Director, Consumer Banking Merger Transition Team, also at
Chemical, Ms. Sullivan managed over 30 task forces to outline objectives,
identify integration issues, and develop task-level project plans
to implement the merger of the Chemical and Manufacturers
Hanover 430-branch retail banking businesses, and got all requirements
completed in line with corporate strategic objectives.
Ms.
Sullivan also held the positions of Assistant Controller and Manager
of Financial Planning for the Consumer Banking Group, and Assistant
Vice President and Manager of Capital Planning for the New York
Consumer Banking Division.
Ms. Sullivan
received her B.S. degree, magna cum laude, from Virginia Polytechnic
Institute and State University and her M.B.A. from the Fuqua School
of Business at Duke University where she was recognized as a Fuqua
Scholar. She is a frequent speaker on retail delivery and small business
strategies for organizations such as the Bank Administration Institute
and the Bank Marketing Association, and has authored a number of articles
on consumer financial services. Ms. Sullivan has also served on the
faculty of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
About
Sandy Kemper
Sandy Kemper is the Chief Executive Officer of eScout. Prior to
founding eScout, Kemper spent more than 10 years at UMB Bank where
he most recently served as chairman and CEO as well as president
and CEO, of UMB Financial Corporation, an $8 billion bank holding
company.
He
serves on the following Corporate Boards: Pioneer Service Company,
Kemper Realty Company, Stagecoach Incorporated, UMB Financial Corporation,
UMB Bank of Kansas City, UMB Bank of Colorado, UMB Bank of Omaha.
Kemper
is a graduate of Northwestern University in Chicago where he earned
his Bachelor of Arts degree in American history.
