Session Description:
Viewed
from a distance, today’s transaction
processing environment appears to be a
swirling mess. Checks are rapidly
disappearing, new payment types are
emerging daily, and many payments are
now originated by third parties outside
of the banking system. Yet, in all this
apparent chaos, there is opportunity –
for new business, reduced costs, and
even fee income. The key is that bankers
aggressively manage those areas that
they have control over, and attempt to
optimize transaction processes across
the bank.
This session will look at three key
areas: check processing, including check
conversion, branch capture, and merchant
capture; Internet banking and bill pay;
and Debit Card activity. In each of
these areas, bankers have the ability to
dramatically improve their processes,
reducing costs, and in some cases
generating fee income.
Key topics will include accelerating the
changeover to electronic transactions,
employee education and customer
marketing considerations, and the
concept of achieving critical mass with
new payment types. Managing the
transition from centralized to
distributed processing in a cost
effective way will also be covered.
Participants will leave with an
understanding of the opportunities that
exist, and with solid information and
methods to use in motivating their staff
to effectively execute a payments
strategy for the days ahead.
This session is appropriate for senior financial services
executives with responsibility for Retail Banking, Check
Processing, Internet Banking, Bill Pay,
Debit Cards, Product
Marketing, Market Research and Strategy groups.
